Sister Guadalupe, a Missionary Catechist of Divine Providence for fifty-nine years, has served in leadership positions in her congregation for twenty-three years and is currently the General Superior. Her diocesan ministries as director include Catechesis in Corpus Christi and Dallas and Hispanic Ministry in Beaumont. She served as coordinator of cultural formation at Assumption Seminary and Associate Professor of Pastoral Theology at the Mexican American Catholic College, both in San Antonio. As a certified chaplain through the Nacional Association of Catholic Chaplains, she served as Pastoral Care Director at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Laredo. She has a BA in Religious Studies from Our Lady of the Lake University, an MA in Religious Studies from the University of Incarnate Word, and a D. Min. in Adult Spiritual Formation from the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. She is an adjunct professor at MACC and UIW and Catechetical Consultant for Instituto Fe Y Vida, and for Pastoral Leaders.
She facilitates retreats for adult groups, and Quinceñeras, and presents diocesan and regional workshops on catechesis, liturgy, Hispanic ministry, and pastoral leadership. She provides on-going formation for OCIA teams. She wrote a book, Where are you Going? A tribute to Women, which will be published by Paulist Press in the fall of 2026.
She is a member of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR), the National Catholic Council of Hispanic Ministry (NCCHM) and the Federation for Catechesis with Hispanics (FCH).
